"Engagement with your local government is something that should be celebrated! As a city councillor I will listen to residents, consider the expertise from staff and local professionals, and help create systems of support for those who need it most. I believe development should foster connections and create enjoyable spaces and I support progressive policies that protect our population, our local businesses and our environment. I am here to listen and work with communities."
- Kimberley Guiry (she/her)
Supporting a thoughtful relationship between community and the built and natural environments.
Finding impactful ways for residents to communicate what is important to them.
Information on public process should be transparent, accessible and easy to understand
I grew up in Ontario and family and community were central to my childhood. I adored camping and being outside was my happy place. My husband Andy was from the same small town but we didn’t connect as partners until we were competing for our university rowing teams. I finished my degree in environmental science from the University of Guelph and Andy continued his journey to be an architect. Through him I learned the potential of thoughtful design, both for creating engaging spaces and as a social responsibility.
When we moved to Vancouver Island in 2009 we knew immediately this was our home. It was also here in B.C. where I started the next stage of my life as a tradeswoman. I apprenticed, earned my Red Seal as cabinetmaker, and met the challenges faced by women in male-dominated fields.
The birth of our daughters changed everything for me. I was determined to guide them through their childhood with empathy and nurture a similar love of learning that brought me so much joy in my own life. We have a loving multigenerational home in Langford, where nature, family and community are at the heart of everything we do.
Help me get the message of “Building Langford Together” out to our residents. There is a lot of important work to do and your contribution helps us work together as a team to make this change happen.
Building Langford together means collaboration, listening and dialogue. As I develop my platform, I want to hear about what is important to you and your community. Let’s see what we can build together.
"Working closely with Kimberley on the Millstream Elementary Parent Advisory Council this past year, we were forced to navigate various uncertainties left in the wake of the pandemic. Through her calm and courteous manner, she was able to provide the leadership our council needed. I am proud to have someone so committed and dedicated to families, the environment and the community here in Langford."
- Ash Senini, Langford resident, Millstream Elementary PAC
"Kimberley is a conscious and community-minded voice in this city. She offers some equanimity to what sometimes feels like a very unbalanced approach to governance in our city. As a parent, I know she will advocate for the safety and inclusion of my kids so they can take ownership and have a stake in the community they grow up in."
- Leeroy Stagger, Langford resident, Kimberley's friend and neighbor
"It is with the utmost confidence that I endorse Kimberley Guiry for a position on the Langford City Council.
As the lead Early Childhood Educator of Strawberry Vale Preschool, I have had the pleasure of getting to know Kimberley during the four years her children attended our Cooperative preschool. Kimberley worked alongside me in the classroom as a duty parent, and also volunteered as Secretary, and then President of our Executive Board. Kimberley was a very approachable team leader and empathetic advocate for all of the families in our preschool community.
Kimberley brings with her strong leadership skills and the passion necessary for building community through engagement and consultation. Kimberley’s integrity, honesty and commitment to hear and speak for the people of her community will make her the perfect candidate for Langford’s City Council."
- Gail Atkins, ECE, Strawberry Vale Preschool
